Welcome to
Oaksedge Sanctuary
A dedicated haven for rescued animals in Derbyshire. Join us in our mission to provide love and care to those who cannot speak for themselves.

Nestled within the rolling countryside of Derbyshire’s Peak District, Oaksedge Farm Sanctuary is a peaceful animal sanctuary dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation and compassionate lifelong care.
What began as a neglected farmhouse and overgrown land has slowly evolved into a safe haven for more than 250 rescued animals. Today, Oaksedge Sanctuary provides refuge to animals rescued from factory farming systems, abandonment, neglect and uncertain futures - offering them space, safety and the chance to simply live naturally.

Surrounded by wildflower meadows, woodland, a nature reserve and open countryside, the sanctuary is also undergoing an ongoing rewilding project designed to support biodiversity and restore natural habitats for native wildlife.
Every animal at Oaksedge has their own story. Some arrive nervous and unsure, others require ongoing medical care or rehabilitation. What they are all given is patience, consistency and a lifelong commitment to their wellbeing.
The animals at Oaksedge Sanctuary
The animals at Oaksedge Sanctuary are all given the opportunity to live safely, naturally and at their own pace.
From rescued farm animals and birds to small animals requiring ongoing care, each resident is treated as an individual, with compassion, patience and lifelong wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.

Rewilding
Alongside the rescue and rehabilitation work we carry out for animals, rewilding plays an important role in the future of Oaksedge Sanctuary.
Across the sanctuary, we are gradually restoring natural habitats through wildflower meadows, protected woodland areas, wildlife support initiatives and more sustainable land management practices designed to encourage biodiversity and help native wildlife thrive.
Our vision is to create a space where rescued animals, nature and the surrounding landscape can exist together in balance - allowing the land to slowly recover and flourish once again.

The Vision
The vision for Oaksedge Sanctuary has always been simple: to create a safe, sustainable sanctuary where animals can live free from fear, exploitation or expectation.
Alongside rescue and rehabilitation, the sanctuary is committed to rewilding the surrounding land to encourage biodiversity and restore balance between animals, wildlife and the environment.
Future plans include expanding rescue facilities, improving habitats, increasing educational outreach and continuing to grow the sanctuary’s long-term impact within animal welfare and conservation.

Ethical Eggs
At Oaksedge Sanctuary, we offer a small selection of ethical eggs laid by our rescued hens, ducks, quail and turkeys living freely within the sanctuary grounds.
Our animals are never valued based on productivity. Instead, they are given lifelong care, space to roam naturally and the freedom to live at their own pace, regardless of whether they continue laying eggs.
The eggs we collect help provide an important source of income for the sanctuary, directly supporting feed, bedding, veterinary care and the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation work we carry out every day.
Available eggs may include:
Hen eggs
Duck eggs
Quail eggs
Turkey eggs
Availability naturally varies throughout the seasons and always depends on the wellbeing of the animals in our care.
Eggs are available to buy directly at Oaksedge Sanctuary (delivery is currently not available).

Oaksedge Charity Status
We are currently in the final stages of securing official charity status for Oaksedge Sanctuary.
This is an incredibly important and exciting next step for the future of the sanctuary. Becoming a registered charity will allow us to expand our rescue work, improve facilities, secure structured funding opportunities and provide long-term support for even more animals.
Everything achieved so far has been built through community support, volunteers and a shared belief in creating something meaningful for animals who deserve a second chance.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported Oaksedge so far and helped us reach this stage - thank you for being part of the journey.
